Six Sentence Sunday

Greetings dear readers and thank you for visiting!! I can't believe the year is almost over...

Today's Six belong to a just finished WIP. Initially, it started out as a Medieval romance but halfway through I decided to change it into a regency. Please allow me to introduce, handsome and good -hearted, Vincent Stowe...

Vincent bustled down the street toward the gentlemen’s club across his shop. He straightened the lapel of his waistcoat and a twinge of apprehension passed through him. He passed a hand over his dark locks and cursed inwardly. He’d forgotten his hat. Again. Sighing loudly he continued his hurried stroll down the quickly darkening path.

Thank you for visiting and for your comments. They make my day! :)

Wednesday Brief: Your Hump Day dose of Flash Fiction

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas Holiday! Did Santa bring you any gifts? I got some, but I'll write another post on that sometime during the week when I've uploaded the pictures *wink* Meanwhile, I'm back with the Wednesday Brief I began on December 12. I was unable to participate last week due to life getting in the way (grrr) but I'm hoping to continue expanding this story throughout the remaining holiday season. If you want a reminder of last, last week's story Click Here

Have a great day!

December Tingles (2)

Anne hummed the melody over and over. Everywhere she went the music rang in her ears and his eyes in her mind. Grey. She saw them every time she closed her eyes. Grey like the sky before a thunderstorm. She shivered. That had been more than a fortnight ago. She’d been dancing with Arthur, attempting to steal a glimpse of Dermouth’s friend at every twist and turn. Finally, as the song ended she’d seen his face fully: Thick dark eyebrows over soulful eyes, a straight nose, an angular face, clean shaven. He’d smiled. She wasn’t sure if because he noticed her stare or because someone in his party had said something but the gesture had made her heart skip a beat. His lips were none too perfect, thinner at the top, thicker at the bottom, yet the desire to kiss him burnt inside her like a roaring fire.

Caught back in the dance, when she looked again he was gone. Until—Anne sighed. Resting her head against the back of her hand, she stared out the window. Snow dotted the landscape turning everything into a perfect Christmas postcard. She closed her eyes.

She followed Arthur’s gaze, her breath stopping as she observed him up close. Arthur looked shocked and she mildly wondered if she too had that bewildered look. She didn’t hear the words, she couldn’t over the loud staccato of her heart but the next thing she knew was his hands taking hers and leading her around the ball room. She wanted to be bashful, to be that silly maiden her mother had taught her to be around men, but she couldn’t. All she could muster was to look into his eyes and absorb their beauty. Grey like the sea at storm. She followed him, step after step, the music weaving around them and creating a magical spell in which it was just him and her. Abruptly, the waltz came to an end. He released her and bowed, his dark locks tumbling over his features, hiding them from her. Grasping her hand, he kissed her knuckles, sending an electric shock up her arm. He glanced up at her, his lips slightly parted as if he had trouble breathing. Then, before she could stop him, before she could ask his name or another dance, he’d vanished into the crowd.

For fifteen days and nights, she’d dreamt about him, strived to find out more about the Colonel’s mysterious friend. Yet, no one knew anything and the Colonel was out of the city having gone to visit Beth’s family for the holidays. She had been about to give up hope until yesterday, when on Christmas Day she’d received that parcel…

“What is it Anne?”

Anne stared at the snow globe. A couple turned in slow circles in the middle to a familiar melody. A waltz she’d been humming repeatedly since that night, since that shared dance with him. There was nothing else, no note, no name, nothing.

Opening her eyes, she stared at the delicate object on her desk. How many times had she set the couple dancing in the past few days?  A knock at the door startled her.

“Come In.”

The butler entered baring a silver tray.

“This just came in for you, lady Annette.”

“Oh.” The bow bowed before her and she retrieved the small box wrapped in bright red paper. “Thank you.”

With a nod, Gerard left the room. Furrowing her brow, Annette ripped open the box. A sprig of mistletoe and a piece of paper with a single sentence fell from it.

Her eyes widened and her heart jumped to her throat as she read the note.

Six Sentence Sunday

Merry Christmas!

Well, I know it's still a day away but... *shrug* *grin* Thank you for coming to visit my chosen Six for today! I was going to go with another Six Sentences from my recent Silver Publishing release Punishing Santa, but I don't know why something called to me and instead I've chosen last year's Christmas story, also from Silver Publishing, The Uncertain List.

Tristan's job is to investigate those people on Santa's Uncertain List and determine whether they're truly Naughty or Nice. His last mission of the year is Amy, a sweet girl with a kinky streak that will make his job harder than expected.

In the following Six, Tristan is looking for a place to stay for the night as well as determining what list Amy belongs to. He wants her, she wants him and he decides to take the risk...

Little Miss Doe-Eyes wasn't as innocent as she appeared, but there was only one way to tell for sure. "Well, I guess it's back to the car for me," he said with a casual shrug. "Thanks for the coffee, Amy."
Tristan turned around to leave. He had barely put on his coat and
reached for the door when Amy rushed to him.

"Sir, don't stay in your car.

Where does not-so-innocent-Amy want him to stay? *Wink* If you're interested in getting a copy, Silver Publishing has a special discount on 2010-2011 Christmas stories until the end of December! The Uncertain List only costs $1.00!

T n'T's Confidential: Kacey Hammell

Welcome, welcome! Today I've got author Kacey Hammell with her special Christmas release! Welcome Kacey!

*Evernight Publishing Editor’s Pick*

After receiving a long weekend at an elegant hotel beside the majestic Niagara Falls as a Christmas gift, Jodie Gibson is determined to do nothing but relax and enjoy the scenery. And, okay, just maybe meet someone who makes her toes curl.

Sebastian is sophisticated, tall, dark and gorgeous--everything a woman fantasizes about. But he's also an 18th century ghost. He haunts the halls of the hotel, seeking the one true love that can help him find peace…

As she peered into the reflective glass, a face appeared behind her. Jodie whipped around and fell back against the window.

Oh my fucking God!

Before her, in what looked like a shimmering bubble, stood the most breathtakingly beautiful man she’d ever seen. Dressed in a white shirt and black pants, he had dark unruly hair and striking, magnetic blue eyes that held her in place.

Jodie blinked, uncertain, scared and breathless.

How was it possible? She’d read the newspaper clippings, yes, but it was unimaginable to think ghosts might actually walk among the living.

Not everything made sense. She only believed in things that could actually be seen, felt and touched. This seemed surreal.

Stunned by the apparition before her, dressed in what looked like centuries-old clothes straight out of Esquire, he seemed to look straight through her, and his smile warmed her clear to her toes. Lord, she was in trouble.

“Hello.” Soft and gravelly, his voice alone seduced her…all the way to her toes. Her body quivered and her center tightened.

Whoa. What the hell am I thinking?  There’s a ghost in front of me and I’m ready to jump his bones. Not bloody likely.

“What are you doing here? Get out.  I don’t care who you are, you’re leaving, right now.”
He frowned. “No need to be frightened.  I’ve been here for centuries.”

Jodie laughed, and not one to wilt like a scared little girl, stood tall. “This is all a joke.”She looked around, up and down, and all over the room. “Are there hidden cameras somewhere?  Hey, Ashton, if you’re behind the camera, you can come out now.  I’ve been Punk’d good. Thanks and all, but I’d like to get on with my evening without you.”

“Who is this Ashton? What is a punk?  A rake, perhaps?” he asked.

Jodie squinted.  “A rake?”  She hadn’t ever heard that term spoken, but had read it in historical romances. No one talked like that these days. “No. Never mind, it’s not important. Listen, I just want you to go. I want to enjoy my evening.”

His smile was gentle. “I’m sorry, my dear, but this evening every decade is the only time I am visible to the human eye. I never miss a chance to watch the Falls.”

Every decade…

“You’re telling me you do this every ten years? How old are you?”

“I was born in 1781. That makes me—”

“Two hundred thirty-one,” Jodie whispered, legs weak. She grabbed the back of the chair nearby and sat down. Were such things even possible?

Jesus.

An eighteenth century ghost stood before her.

Merry Christmas to me.
