TnT Confidential: Nancy Goldberg Levine

Hello and happy Tuesday! Today I have the pleasure of introducing sweet romance author, Nancy Goldberg Levine. She's stopped by with some of her books and even agreed to answer some of my questions (oh, the innocence!) Let's give her a warm welcome!

Welcome to TnT Confidential, Nancy! As a first time visitor, I have to ask the question: When and Why did you start writing?

I’ve been writing since I was seven, and then I wrote mostly about princesses and heroines who met celebrities. I read a lot of books and thought of stories in my head that I wanted to write down.

What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

Creating the characters and putting them in a “what if” situation.

Where does your inspiration stem from?

Real life—I’ve been in some funny situations, and met a lot of interesting people who make interesting characters (they’re only loosely based on these people, though, or sometimes a combination of different people).

What’s your writing process like?

I guess I’m a panster—I see the characters first and start writing the story to see what happens to them from there. I also like to pick out their houses—sometimes I find them while I’m being driven around, or I look in magazines.

As a self published author, what has been the hardest thing for you? Any advice for new Indie authors?

The hardest  part has been trying to get my name out there – I sold my first romance (print, small press) in 1999, and didn’t sell another book until 2012, when  I got advice from another author to become indie published. My advice to new indie authors is not to take advice from me because I still have no idea what I’m doing—LOL.

You currently write sweet erotic contemporary romance, have you considered exploring other genres? If yes, which ones?

I write sweet contemp. romantic comedy—no erotica yet, but I’d like to try that since it’s out of my comfort zone. I wrote a few historicals that never saw the light of print and I think I’d like to try that again—mine took place in the 1880s-1890s (Book 1 had some pretty steamy love scenes, if I remember). (Lost the files in a fire in 2005).

Tell us in a few words why we’re going to love your books. They’re funny and they feature heroes and heroines who aren’t typical.

September interrogation…

- A book recommendation for September “Weighting for Mr. Right” by Patricia Fischer

- A kiss under the rain or in the sun? in the sun

- It’s a chilly Friday night, you are…Having a glass of w(h)ine, a good dinner, and then in the spring/summer listening to the ballgame

- The song that pops into your head at random times “Downtown” or “Master of the House”

- A word you can’t live without  “tasteless”

- A personal Anecdote

When I sold my first book, “Tempting Jonah,” I couldn’t wait to tell my co-workers and boss. The night I found out. My husband (now deceased—sigh) and I went to the grocery to buy a bottle of Asti Spumonte and some sweets (brownies, ice cream, etc.). The next day, I rushed into work to tell everyone, but some people were off, and the rest came in late. It drove me crazy to have to wait to deliver that news!
