#8Sunday #SexySnippets #WeekendWritingWarriors: Jace II

Happy Sunday, darlings!

My creativity has been bouncing around indecisively for the past few days, but I managed to write a little more on Jace's story. Today, I'm continuing with Jace as he goes into town.

This is totally unedited, still untitled and still in its baby stages. Hope you like it, and as always, thank you for taking the time to stop by, share and leave a comment. *hugs*

#SexySnippets and #8Sunday Sentences

Jace slowed down his bike as he reached the edge of town. It was barred by a thick fence. The hairs on the back of his neck stood. He stopped his bike and waited for someone to come out of the guard box. After some time, he ventured through. More forest land surrounded the area but as he moved closer into town an unpleasant smell seemed to permeate the air. Jace wrinkled his nose and picked up the speed eager to find some form of civilization in these desolate lands
lands.

"Oh, Beatrice, where the hell are you?"

Online Dating... Yay or nay?

Lately, for some reason, I seem to be finding the most interesting articles on The Guardian. Today's topic: Online Dating.

Who has experienced it?

Personally, I haven't really delved into the online dating world.

Once I went on a date with a guy I met in a music forum. We'd been emailing back and forth for a few weeks and finally decided to meet up. It was a bit of a fiasco. We were each going to bring a friend but my friend ditched me 30 minutes before the date. Brave as I was back then (I was 18), I decided I'd venture alone. As you might imagine, it was awkward. After that "date" we exchanged a few more emails (like, 2), then he moved away and I never heard from him again.

Then, a few years ago I signed up for OKCupid. I did it out of boredom and because I wanted to do some of the tests on the site. A few months ago I actually filled in my profile, but it seems that with
age I've become more of a scaredy-cat, and that mingled with some other issues hasn't really helped in giving me the courage to take the plunge and have a date with someone I've just met online.

Funny thing is, I do go to big forum like meetings- but that's not one to one dating- so...

Anyhow, enough about me and to the article I read. The author says that there are dating sites for all types of people, from vampire lovers, to "ugly" people, tall people or even book lovers (hum, might have to check that one out *wink*). What surprised the most about the article was the dating sites for rich people. On some of them the male members have to pay 60.000 pounds a year for membership and the females, depending on their looks, only pay 30 pounds! Discriminatory and insane if you ask me. I don't think I would like to date the guys there if all they go by is looks.

What do you guys think? I'd love to hear your opinions and any experiences you might have had with online dating.

Sex Scene Writing...Yeah or Nay?

I love to read sex scenes in my M/M novels. In fact, if there aren’t sex scenes, then I’m less likely to read it. It’s just something I like in my stories. I don’t read het romance so don’t ask me about M/F sex scenes.

Unfortunately, writing sex scenes when compared the rest of the story isn’t much fun for me. I had one reader tell me how much this revelation disappointed her, which was odd to me because whether or not I enjoyed writing a scene shouldn’t matter. There have been hundreds of other scenes without sex that I’ve wanted to shun as well. So, what is it with sex scenes that makes me want to skip them all together when I enjoy reading them? Well, here’s a short list...

They are tedious and detailed.
When writing sex scenes, you really have to stop and really think of mechanics. It’s more than two bodies writhing and joining in sexual bliss. Body placement - arms, legs, lying down, facing one another, sitting, standing, where the two people are in relation to one another - are all of major importance. It’s technical and, I feel after writing numerous sex scenes, I have an inkling of what porn directors or actors go through when filming. It gets pretty exact. I recently read some hilarious sex scenes from published stories reprinted on a blog. Some of the things the authors had body parts doing were physically impossible. While you’re shouldn’t be narrating a sex scene move by move, you always have to know where body parts are and what they’re doing. That takes some real concentration on my part when the participants are supposedly out of their minds with passion.

Needing more than the same old, same old.
Some sex scenes can get pretty wild, when, in an attempt to add something fresh and new to the romance genre (gay and het), authors may go to extremes...On the backs of moving horses (really?). Or with werewolves (one step from bestiality). Or using descriptors that are more ridiculous than they sound such as “man sword” and “fluttering hole.” But without venturing out and striving to create something different, then you just get the same old sex scenes reproduced over and over. Finding new ways to describe what each person is feeling physically and emotionally usually requires several hundred trips to the Thesaurus. In many M/M books I’ve read, I’ve seen the following progression over and over (may vary slightly):

Man sees/meets hot man. Man jerks off to visions of hot man in the shower. Man and hot man give each other blowjobs or rub one off on one another. Man and hot man have sexual intercourse in the shower (because their dirty, of course). Man and hot man have sexual intercourse in the bed. Man and hot man are separated or have a falling out. Man and hot man have make-up sex. The end.

I raise my hand in guilt with following some of this pattern and I am trying to better my sex scene writing in the future.

Not in the mood.
You’re MCs are hot and panting and ready and you’re not. You really have to get into something remotely resembling the current mood of your MCs. You can write sex scenes when you’re exhausted and have about as much sex drive as a dead person, but this makes the writing even more aversive. You really don't want to write a sex scene if you're pissed off at someone, unless maybe it's angry sex. I rarely ever skip a sex scene and come back to it because sex scenes must do the same as every other scene—drive the plot forward. MCs should never have sex just to have a sex scene. Something must happen during that scene that adds information to the story, even if it’s as simple as one of the MCs realizing they actually love the other person, or that the sex they just had with the other person wasn’t enjoyable (not necessarily the kiss of death you might think it is in a romance). Yeah, being in the mood, really important.

In conclusion, I love to read sex scenes. Writing them not so much, however...once I’ve written them and hashed them out in my story, I think, “Hey, this turned out pretty good”  and “Okay, that wasn’t so bad” —until I have to write the next one.

What do I think goes into a good sex scene? I’ll save that for a future post.Thanks for stopping by!Tomorrow, the blog tour will visit the blog of Jon Keys. Hope to see you there!

Shaney's curiosity is always getting him into trouble, including stumbling into a ritualistic circle and being imbued with an energy that will eventually tear him apart. He soon finds out that Hudson, a man he cares for deeply, might be responsible for his misfortune. Add in the betrayal by his best friend Todd and the desire of a demented occultist named Silas to control the energy inside of him and there seems to be no way out. Can Shaney find a way to rid his body of the nefarious energy before he dies a horrible death?

~ ~ Excerpt ~ ~

“How old are you?” Shaney asked. The silence was driving him batty.
The side of Hudson’s jaw twitched. “Twenty-six.”
“And Hudson. Is that like Rock Hudson or the Hudson River?
Another flinch of that muscle but that movement wasn’t an angry twitch. The man couldn’t be nervous, could he?
“Hudson River.”
“Cool. Named after a river. I think I was named after a three-year-old. Is your middle name River?”
“No.”
“Does anyone call you Huds for short?”
“No.”
“Uh-huh.”
And those were the last words they spoke to each other until they reached the cabin.
As the trees thinned, the one-story fishing cabin came into view. Not as eerie as Shaney had pictured in his head. The green paint was weathered and a few shingles were missing, but overall the building was well-maintained. The windows were the old metal frame kind with single panes of glass. Definitely a summer cabin. Winters in the Adirondacks got down right bitter, often dipping into the double-digit negative numbers. Shaney hated the cold as much as his balls did. Hibernation was his winter activity of choice. This, of course, made the other natives scoff since the area was all about winter sports. They were less than thirty minutes from the Olympic Village of Lake Placid. Maybe if they had something exciting, like Extreme Ice Fishing, Shaney could be drawn out of his warm apartment, if only for the entertainment value. He envisioned ice fisherman sitting on their buckets while skiers pulled behind snowmobiles zigged and zagged around them. One missed zag and fishermen, poles, and fish would all go flying.
“Shaney!”
Shaney looked up to see Hudson scowling; jaw clenched tight, dark eyes glaring. Man, had anyone ever looked that annoyed with Shaney?
“What?”
“Care to join me?” He growled.
“Sure,” Shaney said and followed until the man stopped short. Shaney’s sneaker slid in the mud and he tried to stop, but his body plastered itself to Hudson’s backside. Shaney’s arms automatically wrapped tight around Hudson’s waist to steady his legs.
Oh, hells bells, this feels so good. The heat from Hudson went straight to Shaney’s groin and for just a second Shaney breathed in leather and earth and sweat. When his brain caught up, Shaney jumped back as if his body had come into contact with a hot surface.
Hot is right, he thought as his sneakers slipped again, and he ended up sprawled on his back in the mud. Without hesitation, Hudson reached down and grabbed Shaney’s wrist, yanking him upright.
Hudson surveyed Shaney from head to toe and Shaney felt every inch as a caress. Why did Hudson make Shaney squirm in his skin, make him desire the feel of the strong man over him, under him, behind him…anyway he could get him? After only two hours with the plaid-covered hunk, Shaney’s sexual tension had risen to levels that were about to blow his heads off—all three of them.
Suddenly, Hudson’s jaw unclenched and his eyes lightened. Even his shoulders relaxed. Shaney’s breath caught at the soft openness gazing down at him. Butterflies beat furiously in the pit of Shaney’s stomach. He ran his tongue across his bottom lip. Hudson’s eyes intently followed the movement. Slowly, he lifted his hand toward Shaney’s face. Was he going to touch Shaney? Yes, touch me. Shaney wanted to step closer and nuzzle his cheek into that palm. A slight hesitation of his hand, a flicker of something in Hudson’s eyes, and Shaney froze. Hudson’s hand continued up and a light brush of fingertips across the bump on his scalp sent shivers zinging down Shaney’s spine. There wasn’t enough air.
“Does it hurt?” Hudson asked in a low, rough voice as he watched his own fingers stroking Shaney’s head.
Please, don’t ever stop.
“Not too much anymore. I guess if I knocked it again, probably.” Shaney’s gaze never left Hudson’s face. How rare was that open honesty?
Hudson’s eyes flicked down to meet Shaney’s and for one perfect moment, Shaney stopped thinking. But as quick as a rabbit fleeing a fox, Hudson’s hand snapped back and the tension that had been momentarily absent, now filled Hudson’s face.

#WednesdayBriefs: Myths, Secrets and Love - chapter 15

Happy Wednesday and welcome to another chapter of Rodric's adventure. If you don't remember what happened last week, want to catch up, or reread everything just because, please click here. Otherwise, on you go! The prompt I used for this week is in bold.

Myths, Secrets and Love 15

“Let’s try this again.” The dragon lord smiled mischievously. “Welcome to my home, Rodric Belavue. I hear you are looking for help. Perhaps, we can be of assistance.”

Rodric narrowed his eyes at the Dragon Lord’s mocking tone. This was not boding well. Sighing, he braced himself to reveal all. While bathing and redressing, he’d been allowed a moment of solitude. In the end, he’d decided that he had nothing to lose by telling the dragon the truth. His only options were to be eaten or to reveal all.

“I am looking for a friend and I need help to get to another plane.” He sipped at the red wine served to him.

The Dragon Lord’s eyebrows shot up. He pursed his mouth and stared at him for an instant before taking a bite out of the salad served to them.

“A friend? You’re doing all this for a friend?” He shook his head. “I am impressed.”  He pointed his fork at him. “Why is he so valuable to you?”

“That is personal.” Rodric replied. He scowled at the young man, who in turn laughed.
“Very well. I’ll allow you that secret, for now.” He took several bites of his food before plunging on. “You must understand, we don’t normally work as transportation for mortals. We have other interests.”

“What is your price?”

“You can’t pay it.”

“Then why am I still sitting here? Why am I still alive?” Rodric slammed his fist on the table, frustrated.

The Dragon Lord shrugged. “I was curious to know you. Rumors abound about you, Belavue.” The boy smiled. “To be honest, they exaggerate a lot. You’re not as handsome, tall, strong and brave as I was told.”

“What do you want from me?”

“Why, some good company.”

“You’re toying with me.”

“Of course.” The Dragon Lord sighed and focused his gaze on him. A shiver ran down Rodric’s spine, a feeling of foreboding settling in his gut. “There is one thing that would compensate the price of our service.”

Rodric took another sip from his drink, bracing himself for the worst.

“What?”

“Arjä.”

“What about her?”

“Give us the Unicorn princess and we’ll serve as your personal mode of transport to Devil’s Land.”

“What? I can’t do that.”

“Why not?” The Dragon Lord cocked his head, watching him as if he really didn’t understand. “You save the friend you lust after. We keep the girl that annoys you. I don’t see the problem.”

“She’s a friend too.”

“Well, you can’t have it all, Belavue. Either you keep the girl and lose your friend to the Demon’s or you give us the girl and find your friend.” The Dragon Lord smirked. “Or what’s left of him.”

“Why do you want her?”

“We have old business.”

“With that Raskard snake.”

The Dragon Lord’s eyes narrowed into yellow slits. “We are not snakes, Belavue, and it would do you well to remember that in the future.”

Rodric swallowed and nodded. They’d given him back his clothes but not his weapons. He’d do anything for the feel of his sword at this side right now. His thoughts strayed to Arjä. What did they want from her?

“Where is Arjä? I would like to speak to her before deciding anything.”

“I’m afraid that’s not possible.”

“Have you killed her already?”

The Dragon Lord burst out laughing. “You really think we are barbarians, eh? I told you earlier she was with Raskard and he was taking care of her needs. Your decision however has to be your own. You two together could plot anything and I won’t allow it. I’ll give you until tomorrow to come to a decision, Belavue. It’s not that hard. Keep the girl and lose your friend, or lose the girl and find your friend.” The young man shrugged and snapped his fingers. A pretty servant hurried to fill his goblet of wine. “It’s really not that hard.”

To be continued... maybe.

#TNTConfidential Author Spotlight on Chris T. Kat & The Wolf and His Diva

Happy Tuesday! Today I have a lovely author standing under the bright spotlight. Please welcome Chris T. Kat and her novel The Wold and His Diva

Cover Illustration

Elyzabeth, thank you very much for having me. I'm here to talk about my new release, The Wolf and His Diva, a m/m shape-shifter romance which was published by Dreamspinner Press on March 12th.
I'm a big sucker for good book covers, and especially for drawn covers. It's very fortunate for me that some fantastic artists work for Dreamspinner Press and I've been very lucky with my covers. The cover for Secret Chemistry (by Anne Cain) was a winner in the 2013 Rainbow Awards: fifth (tie): Best LGBT Cover – Illustration.
I love all the covers the various artists created for my books and each of them holds a special place in my heart. For the cover of The Wolf and His Diva, I wanted to display a tender scene, but it should also have a certain cuteness factor to it. A lot of people like hot covers the most, I know that. I'm ticking differently—I like the cute ones the best.
Paul Richmond created a gorgeous illustration with Billy cradled in George's hands. I love how both of them sport a small smile and the way they gaze at each other. Also, the light colors in the background are great; they lend warmth to the image.

Paul sent me a black and white sketch at first:

My kids (especially my daughter) loved the sketch so much that she asked me if she could color it in. Of course I said yes—after much internal squeeing. This is the result:

How about you? What kind of covers draw you in? Photos or illustrations? The hot and smexy? Inquiring minds want to know! :)
Oh, and below is the finalized version of the cover.

George Owens is comfortable with his life just the way it is. A wolf- and fox-shifter, George leads a reclusive lifestyle with his energetic and diva-ish mate Billy, a fox-and squirrel-shifter.
George has no desire to take over leadership of the pack, despite his father’s wishes. Edward Owens is feeling his age and wants to make sure the pack is in good hands should he not be able to win his next challenge. However, George is adamant that he wants no part of it.
But events rock George from his complacency, and he realizes he has to take a stand and fight for what he cares about. If he remains in the past and cannot change in order to do what he must, he risks losing everything he loves.

~~Excerpt~~
After pushing his snout through the snow-covered entrance of the den, George sniffed. He sucked in deep gulps of crisp air, enjoying the slight burn deep in his lungs. He had no desire to be anywhere but there, in Alaska.

Fetish wear in the 1920's

The other day on Facebook someone posted a link to this article:

Fetish wear in the 1920s looked a hell of a lot like fetish wear now

 Curious, I went on to have a look. The article has some interesting 1920-30's images of Domme's and subs (love the "pony  girl" scene) and to my criteria some of the looks are similar. I'm especially a fan of the boots... I love the boots.

What do you guys think? Similar or different?

PS: I went on to do a search on Yva Richard  and found some amazing vintage pics, so if you have the time I invite you to do the same.

#8Sunday #SexySnippets #WeekendWritingWarriors: Jace

Happy Sunday! It's been an exhausting week for me but I finally finished the course I was working on and that seems to have freed up my mind space for some creative juices to start running. Therefore, I'm leaving more snippets of The Three Thieves and The Dom for when release date approaches (hopefully sometime in April).
Today's sentence belong to a new WIP, totally unedited, as yet untitled and still in its baby stages. Hope you like it, and as always, thank you for taking the time to stop by, share and leave a comment. *hugs*

Jace cursed under his breath. She'd done it again: disobeyed father and landed herself in a shit load of trouble. They'd told her repeatedly that her new boyfriend was no good.
 Jace shrugged out of his jacket and draped it over the handlebars. He leaned against the seat, taking a moment to enjoy the sun's warmth on his flesh. He glanced at the sky above, tinted darker by his shades. His flesh prickled and he shut his eyes. When he opened them again the world had shifted, everything becoming sharper and brighter.

Sometimes retribution finds its own way but sometimes it needs a helping hand.

When Catherine Montgomery shows up at Kenan Duggan’s homestead, she expects him to be surprised. She’s been gone two years and she’s devastated to hear that her former fiancé was forced to give her up for dead.

Catherine never stopped thinking about Kenan and hoped that they’d be reunited one day. She has suffered at the hands of another but nothing tortured her as much as being apart from the man she loves. She doubts, however, that Kenan will be able to forgive her when she reveals her secrets.

As Kenan battles his desire for revenge, their mutual desire reawakens like a creek bed in the rain, and soon they are swept up in rediscovering their all-consuming passion.

Retribution often finds its own way in the Wild West and the men to blame for Catherine’s disappearance may well find themselves paying for their crimes in unexpected ways.

That’s if Kenan doesn’t get to them first!

~~~Excerpt~~~
Kenan stopped at a point where the bank grew flatter and the grass gave way to silt and sand. The water was shallow and crystal clear over the stones and Catherine suddenly realised how hot and uncomfortable she felt. High summer in Montana was usually hot and uncomfortable but this year it seemed hotter than hell. Beads of perspiration trickled down between her bosoms and the backs of her knees were clammy beneath her stockings.
“Let’s go in. It looks wonderful!”
Kenan smiled at her. “You always loved to swim, Catherine.”
They removed their shoes and outer garments then stood awkwardly.
“What now?” he asked.
“Just like always!” She chuckled.
His fingers trembled as he unhooked the front of her corset. He let it drop to the ground on top of her dress, then moved closer to her and encircled her wrist with his hands.  Her stomach flipped at the passion she saw in his gaze. He wanted her and loved her still but she had not yet revealed all to him. When she did, she feared that he would cast her aside like a broken saddle or a worn out boot.
“Hey!” He tipped up her chin with a fingertip. “What is it?”
She shook her head. “Nothing, just memories.”
“Good ones I hope.” He sighed as he bent his head to kiss her.
At first the kiss was soft and she relaxed into the warmth of his mouth, the sweetness of his breath. But as he pushed his hot tongue between her lips, she moaned and slid her hands through his hair. She filled her palms and her fingers with it then pulled his head towards her.
As they kissed, he loosened the waistband of her bloomers and she felt them slide down to the floor. The warm afternoon air caressed the naked skin of her legs and fluttered the edge of her chemise. Kenan held her body against the length of his and she felt his erection rock hard against her belly.
She giggled.
“What is it?” he asked breathlessly.
“Perhaps we’d better cool off?”
He looked down at the large bulge at his groin. “Maybe.”
He shrugged out of his union suit sleeves then slid it down over his legs. Catherine swallowed hard as she stared at his body. The hard cock stood to attention, pointing outwards from the dark curls of his pubic hair and pulling her eyes towards the balls beneath. He was a perfect male and she yearned to become one with him, to take him deep inside her and ride him until they both reached the point of no return.
“Now you!” His voice was husky but his tone was firm.
She undid the button at the front of her chemise then lifted it over her head. It was sheer as gossamer and featherlight. When she met his eyes again, the intensity of his gaze startled her. He looked so fierce, like he was about to explode with need and desire. He took her hand and led her towards the water’s edge. The cool river lapped at her toes and her nipples hardened, making her full breasts tingle.
“It’s freezing!”
“You’ll get used to it!” He eyed her naked form. He waded into the water until it reached his thighs then turned to face her. Catherine watched as goosebumps rose on his arms and the neat sack of skin that held the essence of his masculinity pulled itself up towards his body.  But his erection still stood firm and ready, the tip shimmering with a diamond like bead of moisture.
In a flurry of excitement, she pulled the pins from her hair and let its vermillion waves cascade down her back. The breeze lifted it and swirled it around her face, teasing her by limiting her view of Kenan. She flicked her head to push it aside and fixed her eyes upon the man she loved. Unable to resist any longer, she ran to him, splashing the icy water over them both as she did so. The river’s chilly grip travelled quickly up her legs and the tiny hairs on her neck and her arms stood on end.
Kenan grabbed her and pulled her with him into the flow and Catherine gasped as the cold water enveloped her, touching her inside and out. The sensation of the chilly water delving between the hot sensitive folds of her most private place was delicious and it heightened her desire to feel her lover’s cock there too.
“It’s freezing, Kenan!” She giggled.
He laughed then flicked water into her face. She shook her head, her thick hair heavy with the river. He reached out and tenderly spread her hair out so that it floated around her like a gathering of eels come to inspect her nudity.
“Come here!” Kenan embraced her.
Their cold, wet skin and his solid length prodding into her stomach fired her yearning to have him. She wanted to possess this man once more, before he knew the full truth. The fear that he might abandon her when she confessed all darkened her mind for an instant, like a cloud passing over the sun. But she shrugged it away, refusing to allow it to spoil this precious moment. Kenan pushed her towards the bank where he laid her on her back in the shallows. He eyed every inch of her body. The stones and sand were hard and cold beneath her skin but the fire in his gaze warmed her like the hot summer sun.
He stroked his hands over her stomach, across the curves of her hips then back towards the apex of her thighs. She moaned as he parted her legs and ran the fingers of his right hand between her swollen lips then over her aching bud. He rubbed it between his thumb and forefinger with a touch so experienced and knowledgeable that Catherine felt all sense and reason slipping away. Lost in passion, she lifted her hips towards him, eager for him to fill her up as she knew only he could.
Whilst he massaged her, he used his free hand to drip chilly droplets of water over her burning cunny. She flung out her arms and grabbed his shoulders, digging her nails wantonly into his flesh and pulling him down onto her, unable to wait another second. His body moulded to hers as if it were the other half of her and she flung her head back as he drove his erection into her soft flesh.
As excitement consumed him, he rocked into her, harder and faster and she spread her legs farther to take him deeper. The water splashed around them as they moved in perfect union and the current flowed over them, caressing their skin and creeping into forbidden places as if to join in their lovemaking.  Catherine bit into Kenan’s shoulder when the tensing and twitching of her pussy signalled the onset of her climax and her sensitive bud throbbed then burst into countless little explosions like lightning bolts piercing the night sky.
The aftershocks flooded throughout her entire body and her hot juices flowed from her loins. Her excitement spurred Kenan on and he thrust harder and faster before freezing as he reached his own shuddering release.
He rested his weight on his elbows and looked into her eyes. “You are amazing,” he whispered as he gently pushed the wet hair from her forehead. “No one should ever hurt you. Ever.”
